The project on “Up-scaling Biogas Technology for Sustainable Development and Mitigating Climate Change in Sri Lanka” conducted a training programme for small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) developed under the Project to provide services to the Biogas sector in the country. The participating SME’s represented three provinces: North Western, Eastern and Western. The event was held at Kandyan Reach Hotel in Kurunegala on December 03-04, 2016.
The programme enabled the participating SME’s to share the experience and the progress they made during the last three years. Several success stories were spoken of during the workshop where it was found that some SMEs has increased their business value over 200%. An experienced resource personnel from the sector provided additional training for the SMEs to further enhance their capacity.
The event also marked the provision of certificates to 14 services providers that was recognised by relevant provincial authorities as certified quality biogas constructers. The event was graced by the Deputy Director of North Western Province Machinery and Equipment Authority.
